It is impossible for a man to be guided wholly and entirely by anything other than his own private judgment in what he believes; for if he does not think in his own judgment that he sees any reason for the truth of a thing, it is a contradiction to say that he believes it. Thus, the notion that a man should not be guided by his own private judgment in what he ought to believe is false, contrary to the gospel and reason, and absurd. See WJE 13:237-38.
